Croton lost a stem and leaves. What do I do with the remainder?

Mealybugs infested the plant so I wiped down the leaves, which before were dropping like flies.

After two treatments, no more leaves fell, but this stem and its remaining leaves withered fast and died. Do I just leave this stem be or do I get rid of it?

Also wondering how long it takes croton to grow new leaves. The remaining two stems seem stable but unchanging
