Help! What to do with this 10+ year old beauty?

My bf has had this for at least 10 years and it’s leaves are beautiful but the rest is awkward looking. It was sitting in half shade half sun on the porch now has moved to a similarly lit area by the porch. Should it be inside? Should I take the little plastic pot off and replant it as is or cut some of the exposed roots off? Any and all suggestions are welcome! Thank you!
