I know this has been asked a bunch but I haven't seen any similar in over a year.
My (26F) fiancé (34M) and I are planning a move to Pittsburgh in hopefully the not so distant future. We currently live in Central Alabama, where I have lived my whole life. He has lived kind of all over the place. We're just ready to get out of this craphole. The COL is low and my family is here, but those are the only 2 positives I can think of. We are getting married next year and plan to have a couple kids after that. We plan to rent for the first year in Pittsburgh to get a feel for the place and see what we like, but after that, what do y'all think is the best suburb to raise a family? We would ideally like somewhere with liberal views, good public schools (ours here are all failing except magnet), and friendly neighbors. We don't go out much to bars and stuff so that's not a big issue and we both have cars. We are into good eats, museums, parks, and things like that. Ideally, would like to spend at most 300K for a house and would like to have a yard if possible. I have been looking at Mt. Lebanon because of the schools mostly and I saw houses in our range. We just don't want to be surrounded by either college kids or retirees. Like-minded individuals with kids (when that time comes) would be nice. Oh, fiancé is in biomed & I'm in nonprofit if that matters. Thanks!
