Hey people from Pittsburgh!
I'm very happy to say that I will be living in your town for ten months starting roughly two weeks from now. During this time I will be attending CMU and hopefully learn a thing here or there.
I'm a 21 year old german university student that has never been to America before. So on the one side I want to experience American culture and your typical American things and on the other side I want to get to know Pittsburgh and its little aspects that make it special.
What are things I absolutetly have to try? Any recommendations on food? Beer? Places to see? Where are good places to party? I don't know want to end up in a international bubble, so where are good locations to meet local people? I'll be living in Squirrel Hill South and I have read some recommendations on the places near there. But I'm sure I haven't heard all of them, so I'm open for any tips.
I've already discovered that there is a big polish community in Pittsburgh which comes in rather handy for me since I was born in Poland. So getting some delicous polish food and groceries is definitley something I'm going to do. Any recommendation?
I also googled a fair bit of your typical things to do in Pittsburgh. So the typical tourist attractions are already on my list. But in my experience it's always best to ask the people living in a city so they can show you around and show you the lesser known places.
