There is so much that goes on in the world, and I am often so in my own dreamy, pisces world, that I find it difficult to keep up with. I love learning information and keeping up with topics that specifically interest me, but I find knowing about global affairs, politics, etc. to be overwhelming to my energy. Lately i have been trying to listen to Up First by NPR, as it is a short little segment of world news to start the day, but I often find that I don't understand the background information that is required, or I space out as I find it boring and almost meaningless (unless it is a topic that interests me). I know being an informed citizen is important, and I feel a bi guilty that I'm often in my own world daydreaming or pondering on philosophy or spirituality. I know the way my mind works is beautiful and I have my gifts and talents, I guess I just hope to be able to improve on this slightly. I hate feeling unable to contribute to discussions on politics/history/current events.

Something that has actually helped me in learning history (which makes current events make more sense) is learning about it through a creative lens. For example, I was listening to this art history podcast. Obviously the art people were making was dependent on what was going on at the time, so it was a great way for me to gain historical insight.

I also struggle with remembering specific names and repeating back information. I am quite well read and educated, but I understand things on a more emotional or philosophical level rather than being able to pull specific details out in conversation.
