My personal thoughts on the state of the franchise (just a rant)

I usually would hate to do something like this but I just feel like speaking my mind. This is going to be a nerdy as hell rant but I think Disney in the past few years has really mistreated this franchise. We haven’t gotten any content and it’s blatantly obvious that because of the Depp V Heard Trial they want to sway away from this franchise. But people tend to forget in the early 2000’s and in the the early 2010’s Pirates of the Caribbean was Disneys highest grossing franchise until they acquired Marvel and Lucasfilm. But ever since 5 came out (which isn’t the most popular but did break even at the box office) Disney when it comes to the Pirates of the Caribbean brand has moved away from content featuring anything from the films and tends to focus more of the original ride. We’ve gotten Captain Jack Sparrow in a few games and a pin for the 20th anniversary and they had the first film in select theaters for a week. But the Pirates film franchise hasn’t gotten anything good and how Disney handled the Depp V Heard trial was very poorly. I understand they corporately wanted to cover their own asses and not support Depp but look at Dior who stayed by his side and their income was doing fantastic when the trial was going on. With the recent news of Craig Mazin and his Pirates 6 script and the writers strike coming to an end so Disney can continue production on it again, I just hope that Disney recognizes the popularity the film franchise and characters still have and give their stores one more swashbuckling adventure and end it. The Pirates of the Caribbean films enhanced the story of the original attraction and many of the original imagineers even praised the franchise. I doubt Disney will give Johnny one more chance at Captain Jack Sparrow and they’ll probably just Rubin the franchise like they did for Star Wars and now Marvel loosing credibility but here’s to the hope that the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise can rise from the depths of Davy Jones Locker and sail once more.
