Hi all, I'm pretty new to pipe making. I made my first pipe out of birch and it turned out great. My grandpa had to cut a few branches off his plum tree and let me use them to try making some pipes out of. They keep cracking after I start to shape them though. My grandpa, who is a wood worker himself, suggested that the wood is probably too wet still. I took the remaining branches and have left them in my car since it's summer here and it's practically an oven. Hope this works out, but any other tips would be greatly appreciated! I'd really like to use the plum since just drilling into the wood produces a lovely sweet smelling smoke.
