2 out of 4 diplomate exam 🎉 For orals exam, to take or not to take?
Post Body

Remember my last post

Heto na yung update guys! We just finished our Written Basics last November 12 and last Nov 16 they sent us email that we all PASSED! I'm so proud with my batch and yung mga kasabayan namin 2nd & 3rd years na nagtake ng exam. Lalo na sila na still ongoing duties sa residency. As their senior last year we are very proud. Mind you mas mahirap yung written basics this year compared last year.

Now my dilemma is the orals exam this March na which is 4 months left. Most of my colleagues say " Mag exam ka na. Malay mo papasa" o "Sayang kasi yung oras. Kahit wala ng aral, maalala mo din yan." or "Habang fresh pa yung inaral mo sa written exam go ka na"

Here are my reasons why I want to delay my orals exam next year:

  1. It took me 7 months to finish all topics sa Barash. For orals we need to read 2 other books (Yao & Blue book). I am 100% sure I cannot cram those 2 in just 3-4 months.
  2. I still lack cases (na tamad akong tapusin).
  3. Factor in mental block
  4. Mental break next year. My family clan plans to go to Japan next year. Ayoko nanaman ma FOMO baka matapat sa practicals (if given matuloy at mapasa).
  5. Sayang din 5000 (exam fee) since I'm not 100% confident to pass.
  6. I don't want to have failed mark coz ang sabi sabi pag naka 3 or 4 failed na need refresher course.
  7. Madaming mortality sa oral exam.
  8. I want to enjoy Christmas this year.

Sa mga Anesth Diplomates here, am I doing the right decision? Any advice would help as I am torn to purse the orals & practical exam next year.
