I’ve had a pilonidal cyst for a little over a year. Normally it’s just a little tender at times and drains off and on. I pressed on it to see how bad it was this time and accidentally made it burst by doing so. It’s a good bit more painful this time around and it is constantly leaking fluid. Had a friend look at it, and he sent me a screenshot. It looks a bit red and inflamed but the fluid is clear. I’m seeing my primary tomorrow to at least probably get it drained for now. Does the bit of swelling and redness mean it’s just inflamed or does that usually mean infection? I’m just freaking out a little because I also have hidradenitis suppurativa.
Update: saw my doctor and she didn’t want to mess with it. She’s getting me into a surgeon as soon as possible. I told her about what I would prefer surgery wise based on reading everyone’s stories on here. I told her I’d prefer a surgeon that knows how to do a cleft lift even if it’s a drive.
