note: you don't need to have watched You to understand this script! while it is heavily based on the inner monologues of the main character from the show, this is a standalone script, and requires no prior knowledge to understand ^^

i feel like i need to defend myself for this script LOL. listen, as a person, Joe (the main character from You), is a walking red flag, and i'm not a fan of his. he's pretentious, annoying, obsessive, and totally holier-than-thou. but as a character? so very interesting. i love dissecting his brain and seeing how it works. he makes big situations out of the most mundane things, and thinks he's the most intelligent person in the room just because he can quote a few popular authors.
so... i wrote this! honestly, it was really enjoyable. i felt like i was making fun of the character the whole time, and i loved it. it was cool to write such a deluded character, and i may have had a bit too much fun with it.
the past two weeks have been rather hectic, so i haven't be able to record. i hope this is alright instead! i'll also record a fill of this as soon as i can, so you can look forward to that ^^
i kept any SFX, mood indicators, and the like to a minimum to allow for more creative control for whoever's reading it, as well. have fun with it! and thank you to u/holy_shitamoly and u/Copinwith2Dgirls for beta reading for me 🤍
