Hello there,

It's me, Darling. I wrote this spontaneously, at about 4am. It was one of those nights where my thoughts wouldn’t leave me alone, so I sat down and decided to write until I passed out. The speaker role is definitely ‘manic pixie dream boy’ and not gonna lie, it was a fun role to write for.

It took a sappy, mushy turn, because that’s me: I can’t help but put a cute romance into everything. The banter evolving from friendly strangers to potential lovers was a treat for me.

Here's the script!

Speaker POV: You go up to your apartment’s rooftop one night, as you usually do after having a hard day, and find a person already occupying your brooding bench. They’re playing music and looking as miserable as you feel. At first, you want to leave, but after seeing them on the verge of tears, you feel like leaving them alone is the last thing they need. Fellow insomniacs have to look out for each other, right?

Listener POV: It’s been a hard week… month… year really. Nothing seems to have been going for you. It’s a difficult night, and as you wander the corridors of your apartment building, you find yourself on the roof. It’s beautiful up there, and you can’t help but boot up some sappy tunes to maybe improve your mood. The pit in your stomach won’t go away, though, and you’re so close to having a breakdown until a mysterious stranger appears. He’s interesting, in a strange way, and you find your mood lifting. Who knew you’d find a similar insomniac in the wild?
