There you go. I put the rest of your lunch in a container for you, and there’s also the piece of pie you asked for with it. You’re getting a pretty good deal on what’s turning out to be two meals.

Well, it would be a good deal if you didn’t always tip so much. I know I always thank you for the tips. I even try to comp your meals sometimes because of it, but you won’t have it.

But before you go… I have a confession to make.

Today is my last shift at this diner. You’re my last customer.

I actually came in just to serve you, because I wanted to say goodbye. I’ve been here, oh… one year, seven months, and thirteen days. And I’m leaving on good terms. It’s hard not to be on good terms with all of the good people that work here. The cooks, and the waitresses and even the customers are pretty nice here.

But you’ve always been the best, from my very first shift here.

The cook packed me up some food to take with me. I’m moving, so I’ve got my apartment all packed up and the cooking stuff put away. There wasn’t much to pack other than some suitcases, because it’s basically a tiny little studio apartment that already had furniture. But now I have food for tonight and tomorrow morning, and also some for the trip.

Don’t laugh, because it’s such a cliche. But I’m going to Hollywood.

Yes, back to Hollyw- wait. You knew? You knew this entire time?

I started this years ago, and it was intended as something a little less SFW. But in looking at it today in its current state, I realized it didn't necessarily need that. Maybe it's just the beginning of a bigger story, but also hopefully is stands on its own as well.

This isn't about any one actress specifically. It's just about the tendency for Hollywood and big corporations to make big stars out of young women, and they or the child's parents to take advantage of them and ruin their lives. But this is one such person, now an adult, looking to take back her life and her own story with the help of the person she trusts more than anyone, even if her entire friendship with him was based on a lie.
