I sometimes feel like not wearing earrings. However, my earlobe piercings are only 3 months old. So, if I leave it naked, it may close. Therefore, I would like to wear a retainer when I don't want to wear earrings.

Two questions:

1. Which one would do the best job in making the ears look like they don't have earrings on -- Gorilla Glass or Neometal?
2. As another question, after one year of the piercing, if I leave my earlobes naked periodically, will the hole close up?

I like wearing earrings but only sometimes -- when going to clubs, for example. But I don't like wearing it when going on dates or when going to work. I wonder if it's possible to have this freedom -- to leave my earlobes naked when I want to, and wear earrings when I want to.
