A quick poll. What do people think is the best initial jewellery used in piercings? What do people prefer for a piercing method, aftercare and studio?
Post Body

Since I've started getting properly done piercings, with a needle, i've been going to one piercer that I had been recommended by a few people. He prefers to use bars as initial jewellery he tends to use biomedical implant grade plastic bars and labret studs for his piercings, that he sterilises himself, and I have never had any issues with them. He uses them as people are not going to react to them like some people do to metals such as gold, silver and titanium. He prefers to use bars as much as possible as they're less likely to get knocked and rings can spin and bring any "crusties" into the fresh piercing site. What are other people's views?

Now since I've been using this reddit i've tried to help people who are considering piercings, had problems with piercings and suggested things they should look for when choosing where to get pierced. I've noticed that i've been downvoted on some of these posts where i've said things such as "Rings aren't great as initial jewellery as they get knocked more", "Visit a piercer who does piercings as their main job" and "Don't take out a piercing that may be infected as that will trap in an infection". I realise that something that people get done to their own body is very personal and that some people don't like to be told their personal viewpoints may not be the best way. My piercer has been piercing for around 20 years, he works in a studio of his own (not connected to any other business) that is very clean, sterile and he does all piercing with needles without numbing and says the only thing you need to clean a piercing is sea salt in water if it gets crusty. What are other peoples prefered methods of piercing and after care?

I'm in the UK so methods here might be slightly different to ones used in other countries.
