My piercer put in jewelry that’s too small and I didn’t realize. If this has happened to you what was your experience getting it fixed?

Post Body

I just had my conch jewelry switched out for a ring and it’s a little bit too small and causing discomfort. If I’d realized it would cause me pain at the time of the change I would’ve said something to the piercer, but it didn’t hurt until I slept on it. Now it’s not unbearable but it’s uncomfortable a lot of the time. I would typically just go back to the piercer and have it swapped again for a bigger ring but I’m about to move and need to save up for needs that come up during the move. I always want to pay fairly for piercers’ time but I honestly can’t afford the cost of new jewelry and the appointment to make the swap. Is it typical for a shop to discount the price of the new jewelry or refund the cost of the original? That would probably be the only way I could afford it, but I don’t want to be presumptuous or put the shop or piercer in an awkward position. What was your experience dealing with mix ups like this? What can I expect in terms of cost?

The piercing itself is almost 2 years old. Would it be a bad idea to order new jewelry online and change it myself?
