Hi all, I need some advice about my industrial piercing.
Quick background: i got it pierced in my right ear when i was 18, about 10 yrs ago & had it pierced the same week i got 4 other piercings. i got them all done at a place near my college that had great reviews and reputation. They pierced it with a long ass needle that allowed room for swelling. However, i have no clue if he pierced it with a 14g or 16g. I had kept the long piercing bar in for a few yrs, changed it out, then back to the piercing bar, etc over the last 10yrs.
I recently took it out and put another one in, and it hurts like FUCKING HELL. Im 99% sure it was pierced with a 16g. The new bar went thru my ear easily and it didn't feel like it was resisting at all, just like all the other ones I've had over the yrs. But the next day i woke up in a shit load of pain. My ear was all red and throbbing. It hurts like it was just pierced yesterday. It would hurt occasionally over the years if i sleep in a weird position or resting my ear in a weird position. Otherwise, I've had no issues or pain. The pain has only got worse in the last couple days. There's no infection or signs of one. No off color, weird scabs or whatever.
I've ruled out infection for now based on symptoms and such. Has this happened to anyone else? Like i said ive been able to change them out before with no problem, and the bar i Have in definitely the same size as my other ones. I haven't accidentally gauged myself either. I have no clue as to why it's all of it's hurting so badly and shit, it hasn't done this in the past. Any suggestions?!
TL;DR: Industrial piercing i got 10 yrs ago has started hurting like crazy out of the blue and there's no obvious problem. Help
EDIT: thank you to anyone who took the time to read my novel and offer me advice. its greatly appreciated!
