Questions about getting my nipples pierced

I've been thinking about getting one nipple pierced for a year or two now, but I've always chickened out. I just have a few questions before I go through with it.

I know it can take up to a year to fully heal, but how long until I feel normal again? How long until I can exercise? How long until I don't need to worry about bumping into things?
How do I find a reputable piercer? What should I look for when looking for a piercer? I'm in San Diego . . .
What happens when/if I decide to take it out? I'm not sure if I'll still want a piercing when I'm 40. Will it look weird when I take the piercing out?

Any other advice/info? :)
