Seriously, go to someone who knows what they are doing
Post Body

I saw a similar title post earlier and I thought I would share my experience today.

In the fall I went to a buddy of mine who gave me a good deal on 4 microdermals. I saw his portfolio and everything looked good, plus he was a friend and I liked the guy. The dermals went in well and looked fine. I had him put in "hubcaps" which are basically rounded heads that are less likely to catch though they don't look great. I figured that that would be the best option while healing and when summer came around I would switch them out when I could show them off more. The dermals healed well and flush and I thought nothing more of it.

Fast forward to today. I've moved and found a new piercer that I liked that was an APP Member that has done a PA for me that looks great and a magnetic finger implant. About six weeks ago one of my dermals was ripped out after being caught in clothing. I had talked to my piercer and she said that she would redo the dermal with the head I had.

Today I came into her shop and handed her the dermal head which was still attached to the anchor so that she could conclave it. I'm sitting there chatting with her while she's prepping when I hear her grunt. I ask her what's up and she says that she can't seem to separate the dermal anchor and head that I brought in. She says it's probably has some skin or biomass or something jammed into it. She went ahead and put it into the conclave to clean whatever gunk it might be out.

After it was cleaned she gives it another go. Using two grips it takes her several minutes to twist it apart. She gets a curious look in her eye and asks to look and my 3 other dermals. After some (very painful) exploratory twists she gives me the bad news that my remaining dermals have been twisted as tight as the one that came out. That my friend had way way over tightened and effectively jammed them. The force that would be needed to get the heads of off would separate the anchor from the skin. That I'm basically stuck with the heads in them and if I ever want anything different I'll have to remove the anchor.

After talking it out with her I had her place a new set of anchor and head in the one that had come out and take out the other three. I'm intending to have new ones put in once the areas heal. It was rather depressing walking out of the shop with less piercings then I walked in with.

The point off all this I really want to make was that you really need to find someone who knows what they are doing. I would really recommend finding someone who is APP certified. Even though I thought that I had found someone I could trust that fact he wasn't that experienced ended up with me doing this bullshit doing the road. I like to think that everyone on this board takes this seriously and is investing more then just hitting up the piercing pagoda with your mom on the weekend. So stay safe and be smart!
