I had my tongue web pierced 3 times between 2012-2013, I was 19/20. First two times went well and I took it out both times because I was frustrated with changing the jewelry.

The third time, I drank a Monster slushie immediately after getting pierced. Within an hour, the bottom of my tongue swelled up so much and I was drooling so badly that I had to go to the ER where they removed it. I was not told why it had to be removed. My parents were also there and pissed off because I did it behind their backs; so, it had to be removed anyway.

My question is...what the fuck happened? I've never known anyone else that had this piercing, and I always wondered why it got so swollen the third time. Was it the acidity from the Monster slushie? Did the needle pass through a salivary gland? Any ideas? I've always been so curious.
