What do you do when you have to get X-rays?

What do you do with while healing a piercings if they have to do xrays on you especially if it's for the longer to heal piercings?

For example: I got dental x-rays like the bite-wings done this year which I'm hoping will be able to be able to be used next time I go to the dentist and I know I'll likely need to get a panoramic dental xrays. I've been putting off my piercings as I have to get that.

Just wondering if there's any advice for this situations. Especially for the longer to heal piercings that take 6months-1year.

This happened back when I got my previous piercings and they would make me take of my earrings off. I knew it wasn't something that should be done for fresh piercings.
