How bad will nipples piercing be second time around?

I had my nipples pierced for almost 10 years and stupidly took them out and now I want them back. I’m on the fence though because it hurt so bad the first time and I hear it’s worse the second time. Anyone have any experience with this? I also can’t tell if it was done correctly the first time as when I’d lift my nipple up the bar was in the middle but testing it wasn’t. But I couldn’t wear the shields because they didn’t sit right. So idk.
