My VCH is newly sore

Got the piercing back in Feb. - healing went great. Very little discomfort. It's been 4 months now and recently it's started getting sore. I'm wondering if it's because I should downsize the length of the jewelry. It moves around a lot because it's so long and that may be what's causing the irritation. Or should I not do that? Any other ideas?
