I always hate this take.
MRI's come from the space program. The investment in space and exploration always pays huge dividends.
There are 8 billion of us, and a whole solar system of resources. We can absolutely do both things.
We need stop thinking less as fractured tribes, and more as a species. Solving “the needs of here and now” likely depend on us coming together around a grand, cosmic purpose.
