I always end up doing some big routine before i sit down to practice. I will get some wine, light a candle and some incense, turn on my led mood lighting than start playing. The only exception is on Saturday mornings ill go get a coffee before practice rather than wine.
If i am being honest with myself, i know i lose hella focus after that sip of wine and i know it doesn’t benefit me in anyway when i practice. I like to think that it helps me loosen up and prepares me to practice after a day at work but in reality it takes away the mental focus that i need for practice.
This morning i woke up to get some coffee than I decided to take a jog. That was a great combo and my practice was sharp this morning.
Weather its taking some sort of focus support, smoking, running, stretching, or whatever. What are some healthy rituals you do before you practice that you think helps you ?
