Went on a trip to Amsterdam the other week. There’s a grand piano in the main area of their train station. One morning I played/improvised for the morning rush hour (for the whole hour). A really fun experience. Very mixed reactions. People walking by who would applaud, or say “bravo!”, and I’d catch their eye and they’d smile. I had 1 lady who stood behind the one column for 30 mins listening. The min I stopped playing and left, she also left! I caught this one worker who applauded and it made my day. As amateur pianists, I know we almost never receive validation (there was a recent post about this). So I just want to let people know, it does happen!
