Am I doing too much with the piano. I have a teacher in person weekly and we work on jazz pieces. Recently, he took notes down for every student he is helping. And I don’t know if he lost or couldn’t find mine but he didn’t have one for me. Then proceeds to tell me out loud. I have so many students. Is this a sign that he is overwhelmed and I should look for another teacher? He’s very knowledgeable and helpful. I don’t have a classical foundation in music. I grew up in the church and I am also a singer I know a few songs from heart. He does help me learn how to read music. And told me to buy progressive steps to syncopation for the modern drummer by Ted Reed. That he will help me with.
I am also in an online gospel program Sean Wilson piano. That is teaching me how to use my ear better to learn songs. I see a teacher on there twice a week. And they’re having me learning my diatonic chords and learning church songs in c major by heart.
