Last week, Catholics commemorated Ash Wednesday by having the clergy and the religious put ash crosses on our foreheads. It is a humble symbol of repentance that opens to us the opportunity to correct our mistakes. Other than that, it is also a symbol of our mortality as we all are marching to our inevitable death.
As a Catholic, I have vowed to give up some of the worldly pleasures that I enjoy through fasting and abstinence. To be fair and honest, it's not an easy task especially if there are some things that already became a habit, behavior, or an addition. It's a continuous process and lent provides that opportunity to begin. You may ask, why stop something that seems harmless or you enjoy? The answer is, it's a form of learning that we let go of some things and learn how to live without it. Also, you know how Catholicism goes. If you're happy and you know it that's a sin! *clap clap*
'Yang "Tara jabol tayo" gawin nating "Oi bawal kang labasan ngayon."
So, tell me what your goals are for Lent. I'll tell you what's mine then maybe we can work something out of it.
