Auto anchor points not working.

This is a new issue for me, I've brought a new laptop and I've download the latest version of photoshop, whenever I try to trace something with the pen tool, it doesn't add a anchor point when I click like it use to. I have to click and drag which is something I find not very helpful. I've tried some changing things in the options but to no avail. Can anyone help?
