Is there a way to match text to image in background?

Hi, I am very new to photoshop and I am trying to make a poster of lyrics on top of the album cover where the design of the cover is made by the color of the text, so in order to make this work I need every pixel in the background to matched up to the text. Is there a way to match the color? My current idea is to go letter by letter and eyedrop the background color to make it match but A. the colors don’t always match up exactly and B. no way I’m spending that much time on this. Thanks!
