IMac Performance Issues

I have a Late 2014 IMac that is being a real dog. It’s almost so slow it scares me.... I’ve had the hard drive replaced and memory upgraded to 32GB but it is still poor when used. Other apps the computer is blazing fast.
3.5Ghz i5 32GB Ram Radeon R9 M290x 2GB 256 GB SSD
Is there any Mac specific performance settings needed? I’m at a loss...
