I went to my local wildlife refuge (Holla Bend NWR) to get some wildlife pics. I got a bunch of photos of hawks, ducks, pelicans, swans, deer, an armadillo, and after trying all last year to find some, I finally got some good pics of bald eagles. However, the best image of the day was ruined because the auto focus failed right when these two bald eagles were going to do that mating thing they do where they grasp talons and spiral to the ground. They only did it for a split second and I got the picture, but as you can see...it wasn't in focus :( I don't know if was the camera not focusing right, or me forgetting to refocus, but I normally check to make sure things are in perfect focus before clicking the shutter. Things were happening so fast and I was too busy tracking them in and out of tree cover that it was hard to do and was just clicking away. After I realized what I missed, I think I invented about a dozen new swear words. Most of the rest of the pictures were perfectly in focus, but that one image where they were locking talons was a total bust. They eventually flew out of range behind some trees, so I didn't get another chance with that pair. I still got a lot of good images from that trip and I guess it just gives me a new goal for this year, but I still feel really bummed I missed that shot. So, anyone else have an auto focus, or other camera issue ruin the "perfect shot" for them?
TL;DR: Auto Focus didn't focus right and I missed a shot of two eagles locking talons.
