Doing service even if you don't want it to be a profession?

Post Body

I have asked a little question now about online photography platforms and many have already advised against it for the simple fact that it is extremely difficult to compete in front of millions of other photos, have not had to even address issues such as reliability and security in these image banks. Anyway, there was a comment that I thought was very relevant: do not sell a product, yes a service. Okay, I understand but is it possible for a person to provide services occasionally but without aiming to devote exclusively to it? I don't intend to spend several hours maintaining a social media profile, buying expensive photography equipment, or even providing a studio to work with. It's not my focus to have my financial livelihood based on this. Is there an effective middle ground that does not require extremely hard effort? I fear not because even those who are very focused on this face serious difficulties until they have a highly renowned name.
