I heard this story a few times, but I haven't found anything to really back it up. The story is basically where a war photographer had shot a lot of footage, or photos of the D-Day landings at Normandy. He was so disgusted by what he saw and knowing that he had saved those images forever, upon returning to the ship with his film, he decided to destroy it by tossing it all into the English Channel. Is there actually anything to back this up, or has anyone else heard this story? I've also heard it told where it wasn't the photographer, but a guy who was in charge of developing a bunch of photos coming in from all of the photographers there that he got so disgusted that he threw it in the Channel.
