Madaming pogi na tas masarap pa katawan sa twitter so gets ko pag madami likes and followers nila, di ko lang gets bat kahit yung mga di naman kagwapuhan madami din likes and followers tas minsan nalalampasan sila. Like, good for them im sure they feel fulfilled everytime they get thousands of likes, pero karamihan sa kanila sobrang ordinary ang hitsura so dun talaga ako naguguluhan. On one hand, people say gay men’s standards for looks are too high, on the other hand, ordinary looking men get numbers of likes and followers that youd think are only within the reach of those particularly blessed and meticulous in the looks department. I did this thing where i asked my female friends what they think of those guys in question and they say “ew” or “ok lang” tas nagugulat din sila pag pinapakita ko kung gano kadami likes and followers nila.

One idea i have is sila yung “pangmasa”, i mean papatulan ko sila kung compatible personality namin. They dont look super polished like their flashier counterparts, so yun yung appeal sa mga gays na naglilike and follow sa kanila. Since skincare and grooming for men is becoming more accessible these days, and there’s less barriers for gay men to dabble in vanity unlike straight men (they still get called bayot for using face wash) siguro nasaturate na yung market with gay men who look polished and in a way madaming nagsasawa sa kanila, so yung iba mas nagiging prefer nila yung less polished look, or atleast over time na eexpand nila yung taste nila sa ganun. So at the heart of it, i suppose its because people like two things: variety and distinctions. Just like how gay men used to rock skinny jeans years ago tas ngayon puro bading mga nagsusuot ng loose na pants. Meanwhile puro straight mga nakikita kong naka skinny jeans these days.
