I bought SCC shares last January at 12 hoping it would be a good long term stock. Recent developments made me change my mind, but just when I was ready to let go, they declared dividends for 2021. Nonetheless, I still want to exit from this stock so I was wondering what should I do:
Sell at a profit OR Sell on ex-div date
Or would there be an actual way to have cake and eat it too? If I sell on April 7, should I sell it at a discount so still get some profit and cash dividends? How does selling work anyway: do they prioritized it based on the time a SELL order was made, or do they based it on the lowest ask price? If I sell it at 12.15 (breakeven price), is there a possibility that it would actually be sold at 12.5 or higher? Or should I place a sell order on April 6 after market has closed to get priority the following day?
