Bulbs not connecting to wifi?

My router is a tri-band and automatically decides which network is best.
The bulbs are not staying connected when the router is in Tri-Band mode. If I disable the Tri-band mode, the light bulbs connect but don't stay connected.
My question here is, would either a Hub or Bridge (whichever is current) help with the network connection issues so that I dont have to disable the tri-band mode?
