For those not following the news, it is very likely that there will be a major freight rail strike starting Friday. News coverage of it has mentioned that the strike will affect commuters, and Amtrak canceled all its long range trains
SEPTA will not be affected and will run as normal, as will Amtrak service along the NEC and to/from Harrisburg. Thankfully SEPTA and Amtrak own the track around here and freight companies merely use it, so a freight strike won't affect our rail traffic here. In other parts of the country the freight companies own the rails and amtrak/commuters merely use them. Chicago and DC will be the cities most affected by this, especially Chicago
