Dear r/phgonewild boys and girls, listen up!

On June 12, this subreddit will go private for 48 hrs in protest of Reddit's plan to price out third-party apps. We are one with the rest of the global Reddit community to prevent the implementation of new API policies which will affect ALL OF US.

A short summary of the issue:

Reddit's API pricing will increase next month. This move will 1) possibly price out third-party apps (Apollo, Reddit is fun, Baconreader, Narwhal, Relay, etc.) as existing policies restrict their ability to show ads, thus limiting their revenue. This also 2) raises concerns about the new restrictions that will prevent NSFW content from being available in third-party apps.

Point number 2 is especially relevant to this community. Like any NSFW subs, r/phgonewild is a bit difficult to moderate. There are one too many issues (doxxing, stolen content, etc.) to watch out for and if too many rules are broken, there is a huge threat that the sub will be removed. Without these tools provided by the third-party apps, moderation will be trickier. These third-party apps really made moderation easier and more efficient because they include customizations and other features not found in the official app.

Also, the Reddit's official app's interface isn't really that great, to begin with (videos turning off or still plays even when the thread is closed, comments loading reaallyyy sloooow, refresh button doesn't work, to name a few) . Instead of fixing their app, they chose to kill the competitor, so this new policy will make access to NSFW content more problematic.
