A friend of mine graduated last July 2024 and came to Manila hopeful, applying for jobs. But job orders haven't materialized yet.
We have exhausted LinkedIn, JobStreet, Indeed, and even contacted my acquaintances for referrals. I even contacted fellow Redditors about job openings for her, but still no luck.
Surprised by the job market, my friend is now desperate to get job as shes running out of money, and nadukutan pa sya sa MRT nung isang araw. Currently, shes working as taga buhat sa warehouse (imagine a 4'11 girl lifting)
I offered to accompany her sa job fair but she will be on a 12 hour duty sa North.
If there are any good hearts who can refer my friend for entry level job positions, let us reach out.
Tourism graduate
Add: I checked her CV; it says she is good at communicating, computer literate, and had OJT at a computer shop.
She sends them online and also walks in.
Yes, she has many pending applications to many BPOs, too. We are just trying to expand our reach; we have been checking those job apps every day.
We already did, also used insights from those who provided creative criticism here. Harvard format, one page, no pictures, etc. I also made her come to interviews posted by redditors hiring here. So far di sya napipili. Already applied to different industries Bpo Food and beverage Concierge Tech
I don't know where to position myself anymore when we're simply asking for referrals.
Maybe its a win win pa nga for those who will get their referral bonuses.
Previously, when I posted on r/phjobs highlighting her academic qualifications without any storytelling, we were met with harsh comments labeling her as ‘lazy’ and ‘wanting the easy way out.’ Now that I’ve shared her job-hunting experience to add context, we’re receiving criticism again.
We’re not expecting money to ‘roll in’.. we’re actively doing our best to help her land a job. This post is just another way of reaching out for leads, not avoiding effort.
