Does a previous job title that is "too high up" become a hindrance?
Post Body

Hi all,

I've been spending some time dusting off my resume / CV as I look to try to gain experience in the industry. Ideally, I was looking at pursuing some sort of medical communications / information role with the ultimate goal of industry marketing.

A little bit of background: I am a PharmD that has years of geriatrics clinical experience. But most recently, I quit my job as a pharmacist to partner in a health care franchise. Things have gone well financially, but it's time for me to move on from it. When I partnered, we decided to divide the workload into: Business Development (Marketing and Operations) and Business Management (Finance, Tax, Compliance). Not knowing what to call ourselves, we both listed ourselves as VP of XYZ. We still technically report to the Franchisors' CEO for our revenue but we are given the keys to do whatever we want as long as it's profitable.

I haven't looked at my resume in almost 10 years, and I was updating my LinkedIn. Is listing myself VP going to deter people if I'm looking for more entry level industry jobs? If so, are there any specific labels that look better?
