and it feels bad.

i can put up with it from doctors and nurses who just want me out of their hair, but i didnā€™t realize just how far it goes. my friend, a vet tech, was listening to me talk about the PTCB knowledge domains and how i struggled with pharmacology and every sentence felt like it started with, ā€œyou think thatā€™s bad? MY ā€¦ā€

like, yes i do think my job is hard, actually. iā€™m every bit the healthcare professional that she is despite our difference in clientele. weā€™re both technicians in our chosen field. why is my job lesser? why does everybody seem to think being a pharmacy tech is so fucking easy? because we canā€™t counsel? is that it?

i donā€™t understand why pharmacy techs are so undervalued. i didnā€™t know it went this far. iā€™m going to talk to her about it so i can get her perspective but it doesnā€™t feel great to be put down by literally every other type of healthcare professional. weā€™re in this together. stop reducing me to little more than a cashier. (nothing against cashiers, btw.)

EDIT: i fully understand that her job is ā€œharderā€ than mine. thatā€™s not what iā€™m saying. what iā€™m getting at is that weā€™re not less valuable.
