Every day I see so many patients coming to us to pick up their CIV-CII's and it pisses me off to no end. I feel like no one cares about pharmaceutical abuse and it's definitely rampant where I live. Day after day, month after month, all we get are patients seeking their benzodiazepines, legal amphetamines and opioid painkillers, not even bothering to pick up or fill their other maintenence medications (SSRIs, HBP meds, less addictive pain management treatments such as high dosages of ibuprofen and naproxen). I wish my pharmacist was as bothered by this as I am. It's so obvious when certain patients come to pick up their meds and its because they're addicted, not because they're suffering.
Most of all, I hate that SoonerCare pays for a majority of all this. High-functioning, working-class adults ages 19-50 get free healthcare and for what? To fuel their addictions and abuse the system? Not a single denial or question. It seems like anyone who is lazy, lacking ambition, and doesn't have any standard of living a life can just leech off of the government and be a "legal" drug addict, all at the cost of the people who bust their butts trying to survive.
Anyone else have this attitude or problem? Would like to hear some similar experiences, just to know I'm not alone. I might be biased but it is a legitimate concern.
