Growing up outside of the US, Fucidin was the most accessible topical antibiotic ointment. Apparently, itโs still showing good efficacy agains MRSA and is also used orally in most other countries. Iโm just curious as to why it was never FDA approved in the US. At present date, there are barriers to market exclusivity, which partly explains why no pharma company has successfully brought it to the US market recently. Iโm just wondering what prevented entry into the US market over the last 70 years since discovery.
