For context: I live in the US and I’m planning on going with Dr. Chen or Dr. Meltzer.

I’m trying to plan ahead. Mostly trying to figure out how much money I need to save. My understanding is I will need to stay near the surgeons clinic for a month after phase 1 surgery, is that about right? What about phase 2 or 3?

How much did you spend on lodging? Are there any creative ways to make it cheaper?

Did anyone’s insurance company cover any of the costs for travel and lodging? I have Medicaid right now, but I’m planning on switching soon, not sure who I will go with though. I also find insurance very confusing and I’m not sure how to calculate the costs.

While you’re here—should I wait til after my consultation to schedule my hysterectomy? Or should I try to get it done before? Is there anything I should try to get done before my consultation?
