quitting as a dog trainer
Post Body

Alright folks I’m quitting training because I am fed the fuck up with my store. On one hand, I do care about my managers and my coworkers. On the other hand: I was promised full time but their two (2) other trainers came back and I’m now working like…2 half days a week, the pay is shit, and for the final straw, the schedule got messed up and I was supposed to teach a class that I was unaware of and only found out after I had left the building that day. I have a successful training business specializing on in-home training with a focus on aggression and service dogs (you will note, nothing Petsmart teaches) and I need more time to keep up with that, too. I was a trainer before I came to Petsmart. Also, one of their trainers advocates for really outdated methods (shes wishes it was acceptable to choke out reactive dogs) and I don’t feel comfortable hanging around that after I’d brought the issue up to leaders multiple times. DL is aware and doesn’t care.

So the question is two weeks notice or not? I don’t really want to but I do want to finish one of my classes that is almost done because they’ll graduate on Monday.

I don’t want to put up with my team being pissy with me bc I decided to quit, my ASL is kinda crabby. My GM is great.
