(Disclaimer,venting and rant)
Customer service and sharing knowledge on animal care has been my job on n off for 5 years. For 2 years once at an animal company from Canada, 2 1/2 years for PS in one state and almost a year in my home state here recently.
My conclusion has come to they just don't care anymore as long as there is inventory on shelves. Most complaints came from online ordering and stocking. So therefore that's was the focus. My job as a pet care keyholder ( which they made sure to give me the maximum for part time but kept asking me if I like it there constantlyred flags after fighting and chasing a plastic carrot for full time) was to do all of which is required of my position, but if there are carts of stock to put on shelves , that was the focus. All while a "core walk" by the DM was appproching a week after inventory .
After inventory I struggled to make sure everything was accomplished all while trying to make sure all animals were taken care of and stock be put up. It was me and the cashier in the mornings , or that and one other in the evenings that would only work twice a week. I couldn't take it anymore after one shift I walk in and get told to clean the tanks ASAP ( which had been neglected because of inventory. Then aat close overheard my store manager saying he had told me to put up the leash cart earlier that day and I didn't even touch it. That which is true. I didn't have time with the focus should have been on animal care and customer service.
My basket had always been above $ because I made sure to reccomd and anyone buying a pet had everything if not convince them to have extra.... Rant over.
Needless to say, I said my word and left without much of a notice.
