I currently have Lemonade and I’ve been pretty happy with them. They’ve recently raised my monthly premium to $110, and I figured that was fine since I’ve never really had issues with them covering things. I recently had to take my golden retriever to the ER for swallowing a small tennis ball someone at the park threw down for their small dog. He needed surgery and Lemonade covered 80%. About six months ago, he swallowed a small nerf rival ball and they induced vomiting and it came up. I just received an email from Lemonade saying since he’s had two foreign body ingestions in the past 18 months, it’s considered a recurring condition and if it happens again within the next 18 months, then it won’t be covered. Obviously I don’t want it to happen again ever, but I’m worried about having to pay thousands of dollars without it being covered if god forbid it happens again, even though I’m paying pet insurance for him. Is this a common clause for most pet insurance companies? Wondering if I should switch to another company that has a better policy where there isn’t a limit for coverage despite how many times a similar accident happens.
