Just got home from Buffalo show
Post Body

Just some quick notes that i remember off the top of my head. This was my first time seeing him, and i was super excited. I have some videos I'll try and post tomorrow and anything else I think of

Washing of the water gave me goosebumps, the band sounded great in their little campfire-esque semicircle

Growing up didn't do as much for me as I hoped, I think it was the stripped down aspect with the violin and trumpet.

Sledgehammer was incredible, as expected

I can't say enough about the backup vocalist and cellist, her part of Don't Give Up was outstanding, she got a well deserved applause for it.

IO and Panopticom were phenomenal, the visuals were eye candy and mesmerizing.

Playing for time, And still, and This is home didn't do much for me. I didn't care for the studio version of Playing for Time and the live version didn't change that.

Speaking of Playing for time, there was some sort of "fuck up", Peter's words not mine, and they started over again. I didnt catch what the actual mistake was. They made light of it and did "take two" again, his words not mine

Live and let live was catchy and I'm eager to hear the studio versions.

Bonus fact for any Erie County residents here, I swear Mark Poloncarz was sitting the row behind me in the 200 level. If it wasn't, he's got a doppelganger

Edited: Some additional thoughts as I was looking over the set list again

Four Kinds of Horses, while I love the song, i don't know if it translated as well to the stage. The video with it with the countdown til the "explode" lyric was really impressive though.

I know Darkness is pretty well liked, or seems to be. Personally, I didn't like it on the Growing Up tour DVD, and it's the same here. Again, impressive visuals, though, which saved the few songs I don't enjoy as much.

Love Can Heal had some excellent visuals with him "painting" on a transparent screen and I thought it worked surprisingly well, although I think they had some sort of lighting issue at the end.

Overall the band sounded fantastic, I noticed a couple instances where the sound seemed to all of a sudden "cut in" like they had a sound issue or Peter's mic wasn't turned on. The beginning of In Your Eyes was one instance.

Tony, David, and Manu, of course got the biggest ovations, but that cellist, again, was way up there. I can't remember her name.
