I’m trying to do everything I can to treat a debilitating flea infestation at my Grandmas house and I’m trying to prepare the house for professional treatment but running into some major problems.

• They have two indoor/outdoor cats that keep transferring the fleas to my dog, who now has it the worst. They are willing to keep the cats outdoors permanently but..
• There are excessive feral cats in the neighborhood which I don’t have any idea on how to get rid of but I’m worried about the constant transfer between feral cats, outdoor cats, and my dog who is mostly indoors other than potty breaks.
• They have so much stuff and we’re gonna do what we can to move it all for the exterminator but I don’t really have control what the other family members do and don’t do so I’m nervous the treatment won’t work.

At this point I’m considering just moving out even though I can’t afford it.

As far as my mattresses go, if I put waterproof zip up covers over there, will that prevent or stop infestation of the mattresses? Or do I need to throw them?
