I'll start. For many who weren't around during this time it would be hard to believe that there was a series of spots you could frequent that spanned from 34th Street to 57th Street back then. As a young 18 year old in the late 80s I was like a kid in a candy store who got a job working in Manhattan earning $200 bucks a week. Each Friday was playtime for me as I would set aside $20-$30 just to go into different spots along 42nd Street and the surrounding area.
If it wasn't a peep show, it was a booth to talk into a phone with a girl who would play with herself and talk dirty separated by a glass panel.
On occasion I would hit a trans bar down on around 9th and 10th Ave where girls would be lingering to be picked up and would get blown in the bathroom for $20. Some spots are still around in Hells Kitchen. PSA: Don't throw your money away on this. Not worth it.
Sometimes I'd go to the meatpacking district which no one frequented and was nothing but abandoned factories to look for a hooker to blow me in one of the empty abandoned buildings.
I'm sure there's more. Would love to hear your stories during this time in the city
